Ali Abbas Zafar Reveals Why He Won’t Direct Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif Starrer Tiger 3
Salman Khan’s Tiger franchise is extended to a third installment. Tiger 3 is the highly anticipated movie in Bollywood in recent times. Ever since the project was announced fans are eagerly waiting for the actioner to be released. Now director Ali Abbas Zafar gave a new update about Tiger 3.
For a long time, film maker Ali Abbas Zafar was expected to continue the franchise however, he won’t direct the action film. The next chapter of the Salman Khan starrer will be helmed by Maneesh Sharma of Band Baaja Baaraat fame. The action spy film franchise was kickstarted by director Kabir Khan. Ek Tha Tiger was the first film of the Tiger series and was directed by Kabir Khan. the baton was then passed on to Ali Abbas Zafar for the sequel Tiger Zinda Hai.
Many expected that Ali would continue to direct the series but it turns out that Maneesh Sharma would direct the latest installment. In a recent interview, Ali opened up about why he could not direct Tiger 3. The filmmaker told PTI, “Adi (producer Aditya Chopra) is like an elder brother. When the third part of Tiger was happening I had some engagements that I was committed to. Our timelines couldn’t match. But I think Maneesh, who is taking the franchise forward, will do justice to it. Kabir Khan, me, and now Maneesh, all of us brought our individuality to the films we made. I am looking forward to ‘Tiger 3’. I think it will be very entertaining. I am happy.”
This doesn’t mean Ali and Salman would not work together. He who directed Sultan and Bharat revealed his collaboration with Salman for another exciting project. He said, “Inshallah, Salman sir and I will come together to do a big-budget quintessential Indian entertainer. I want to do a big action film with him. It is something I am working on and I will share (the script) with him soon.”
