Godfather: Chiranjeevi, Nayanthara Starrer Set For An OTT Release

Godfather, the Chiranjeevi starrer Telugu remake of Mohanlal’s Lucifer, is all set for an OTT release. On November 2, 2022, the streaming giant Netflix took to social media to make the announcement that the film will stream from November 19, 2022. “The megastar of Tollywood meets the megastar of Bollywood! #Godfather is coming to Netflix on the 19th of November!” the streaming giant wrote.

The multilingual film had a theatrical release on September 28. The film also stars Nayanthara, while Salman Khan will be seen making his Telugu debut. The film crossed the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide at the box office. “Megastar @KChiruTweets’s domination at the Box Office 🔥. HUMONGOUS BLOCKBUSTER #GodFather crosses 100 CR gross and going strong❤️‍🔥” the makers of the film wrote on social media.

Directed by Mohan Raja, the upcoming film also stars Nayanthara, Puri Jagannadh, and Satyadev Kancharana, among others. Godfather is produced by RRR fame actor Ram Charan, R. B. Choudary, and N. V. Prasad under the banner of Konidela Production Company and Super Good Films. Godfather is the remake of the 2019 Malayalam film Lucifer starring Mohanlal. Lucifer also starred Vivek Oberoi, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Saniya Iyappan. Chiranjeevi (Brahma) has roped in the role of Mohanlal in the remake. While Khan has been roped in to play the role of Prithviraj Sukumaran, who also directed the original Malayalam film, which marked his directorial debut. Khan plays the right hand of Brahma (Chiranjeevi) and joins him in his fight for power.

Lucifer is a political action thriller film revolving around the demise of the state’s beloved Chief Minister PKR (PK Ramdas). His demise leads to a power struggle between his legal heirs, selfish businessmen, and conmen politicians. Godfather also marks the first venture of Khan and South Indian actor Nayanthara. The latter plays Sathyapriya Jaidev, Brahma’s daughter, who is uninterested in politics even though her husband (played by Satya Dev) is keen on it.
