Ponniyin Selvan 1 BO update: As Aishwarya Rai, Vikram starrer heads towards Rs 200 crore, here’s looking at its milestones

Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 1 has become one of the most successful films of 2022. The movie has been breaking record after record. The movie, starring Karthi, Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Trisha Krishnan, also received huge praise from critics. The epic film by Mani Ratnam made Rs 100 crore in Tamil Nadu after only five days of release and became the fastest film to enter the 100 crore club in the state.

Now, film producer and business expert Girish Johar has shared some updates regarding the film. Stating that the film is soon entering the Rs 200 crore club in TN, he also shared the milestones achieved by the mammoth film. According to Johar, not only is the film soon breaching Rs 200 crore in the TN belt, but it is now the number 1 grosser in Tamil Nadu and has also seen a global gross of Rs 433 crore 2 weeks back. As per Johar, the Hindi version of PSI has collected a gross of Rs 25 crore at the box office as well.

Meanwhile, as per reports, after the grand success of the magnum-opus Ponniyin Selvan 1, the makers are all set to begin the post-production work for the second installment of the film. Helmed by Mani Ratnam, the film stars south actors Vikram, Trisha Krishnan Karthik Sivakumar, Jayam Ravi, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles. Talking about the second part, the makers are all set to begin the post-production work of the film which was shot simultaneously with Ponniyin Selvan -1, unlike Baahubali and KGF.

Taking to Twitter, Trade analyst, Taran Adarsh shared a post about the development of the second part of the film which he captioned, “‘PS1’ – ‘PS2’ INTERESTING DEVELOPMENT… #ManiRatnam’s #PS1 is a BOXOFFICE MONSTER, rewriting record books in #TN [the #Hindi version is also faring well].

BOTH PARTS ARE SHOT SIMULTANEOUSLY. #PS1 and #PS2 were *shot simultaneously*, unlike #Baahubali2 and #KGF2 which were shot much after the first parts were successful.
