Shabaash Mithu box office collection Day 4: Taapsee Pannu’s film is a total dud and failed to impress
The dry spell in Bollywood is back after the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. On July 15, two major films were released – Rajkummar Rao’s HIT – The First Case and Taapsee Pannu’s Shabaash Mithu. Despite a good star cast and a catchy story, both films failed to impress the audience. They are currently struggling to place a foot at the box office collections. In Shabaash Mithu, Taapsee Pannu plays the role of former Indian women’s cricket team captain, Mithali Raj. The biopic opened to good reviews. However, the reviews failed to pull more audiences to the theatres. After dismissal on the first day of collection, the movie’s dry run doesn’t seem to end. On Day 4, Shabaash Mithu hardly minted any numbers.
Shabaash Mithu had a poor Day 3 in the theaters after it’s even lower opening day collection standing around Rs 0.40 crores. On Day 3, the film picked up by a margin and collected approximately Rs 0.60 crore, taking the total collection to touch the Rs 1 crore mark. However, on Day 4, it witnessed a huge drop again. The film hardly collected any money as its single-day box office collection stood at Rs 0.18 crore. Hence, the total collection would now be Rs 1.75 crore, according to early estimates. Shabaash Mithu was released along with Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra’s starrer Hit: The First Case. While the Rajkummar Rao film showed a jump, Taapsee’s stellar performance failed to draw people to the cinema halls.
For the film, Taapsee Pannu had to undergo rigorous training to look at the part. She delivers a noteworthy performance as Mithali. In an earlier interview, Taapsee mentioned that she took inspiration from Shah Rukh Khan in Chak De to motivate herself during the shoot for Shabaash Mithu. Shabaash Mithu was directed by filmmaker Srijit Mukherji and written by Priya Aven. The biopic is a coming-of-age story of women’s cricket in India through the lenses of Mithali.
On the work front, Taapsee also has Dunki coming up with Shah Rukh Khan. This will mark her first association with King Khan.
