‘Wednesday’ Season 3 Takes Over Paris! Jenna Ortega, Fred Armisen and Tim Burton Filming Along the Seine

Wednesday is officially going global! While Nevermore Academy (Ireland, that is) has been the primary stomping ground for everyone’s favorite gothic teen for the most part, Season 3 is taking things straight to the City of Light.
As we can now confirm, plus local reporting out of France, production for the highly anticipated third season has set up shop in Paris for a brief stint this week. Filming in the French capital kicked off on April 18th and is expected to wrap its on-location shoots today, April 20th.
If the idea of Wednesday Addams scoffing at the Eiffel Tower isn’t enough to get you hyped, we have something even better. What’s on Netflix has managed to get our hands on some exclusive behind-the-scenes photos from the Parisian set!
The snaps show series star Jenna Ortega back in her iconic black-and-white threads (with bangs!), sharing the screen with none other than Fred Armisen, confirming that Uncle Fester will be bringing his chaotic, electrifying energy to Europe. Overseeing the madness is executive producer and visionary director Tim Burton, who was spotted directing the duo through what looks to be a high-stakes (and predictably spooky) sequence on the cobblestone streets next to the river Seine in central Paris. We also get a glimpse of the famous motorcycle, complete with the sidepod.
Based on the clapperboard spotted, Tim Burton is in the director’s chair for this sequence, teaming up with acclaimed cinematographer PJ Dillon. The slate indicates they are shooting scene V103—likely a visual-effects-heavy sequence for the third episode—filmed at the standard cinematic 23.976 frames per second using the “B” camera on roll 501.

The Paris shoot is just the latest exciting development for a season that is already shaping up to be Netflix’s biggest TV event of the year. In case you’ve missed our ongoing coverage, here is a quick refresher on the current status of Wednesday Season 3:

Everything Else We Know About Wednesday Season 3
As we reported earlier this year, Nevermore is attracting a major influx of Hollywood talent. In what might be the most pitch-perfect casting of the decade, Burton muse Winona Ryder (Stranger Things, Beetlejuice) has officially joined the cast for Season 3! Ryder’s arrival comes alongside a slight casting shake-up, as it was confirmed that Noah B. Taylor has departed the series.
Ryder isn’t the only heavyweight joining the Addams universe. Game of Thrones alum Lena Headey, alongside 80s icon Andrew McCarthy and Ted Lasso’s James Lance, have also been cast in undisclosed, but supposedly integral, roles.
If the casting news wasn’t enough to keep fans busy, Netflix recently dropped a mysterious casting video full of hidden letters, sending the internet into full detective mode. We’ve been busy decoding what the letters mean, with popular fan theories suggesting they spell out a hidden family secret, a new outcast society operating in Europe, or perhaps the name of the new big bad hunting Wednesday down.
With production actively rolling through Europe right now, the biggest question on everyone’s mind is: When can we actually watch it? As we broke down in our comprehensive Season 3 preview, the massive scale of this season—complete with international shoots like this week’s Paris excursion—means a lengthy post-production process. While Netflix hasn’t confirmed an exact date, we’re fully expecting a mid-2027 return.
For now, we’ll just have to enjoy the sight of Wednesday and Uncle Fester terrifying the locals in France.
