‘200% Better Than Adipurush’ Samantha’s Epic ‘Shaakuntalam’ Trailer Gets ‘Mass Response’

Telugu cinema continues its onslaught at the box office with pan-India epics and the latest one to join the wagon is the Samantha starrer Shaakuntalam. Based on Kalidasa’s play, Shaakuntalam also stars Dev Mohan & marks the debut of Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha. Directed by Gunasekhar, the Shaakuntalam trailer has received a positive response from the fans on social media with acclaim targeted towards its VFX despite a relatively lower budget.

Sharing the trailer, Samantha wrote, “#Shaakuntalam Trailer is here! This FEB 17, experience the #EpicLoveStory unfold only in theatres.”

Reacting to the trailer, a fan compared it to the teaser of Prabhas & Saif Ali Khan starrer Adipurush and wrote, “Awesome trailer 200% better than Adipurush teaser”. Another user commented, “Loved it … Goosebumps. This is why south movies are best as they don’t distort history n connect to the nerves of people. Bollywood focuses on defaming Hindus enlightening Bhai #Shakuntalam”.

A third user reacted, “I am thinking that it is Kalidasa’s play. Proud of TFI for rooting their stories in Indian epics.” A fourth user wrote, “Literally Goosebumps what a trailer”. A user also shared a clip from the trailer launch where the audience reacted massively upon Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha’s entry. A few months back, the teaser of another Telugu film HanuMan had garnered immense response and now Shaakuntalam seems to be taking the same route.

Both films have lower budgets when compared to other period epics and yet, the visual effects don’t seem to be compromised. On the other hand, a huge budgeted Adipurush was criticised for animated sequences in its teaser.

The period epic is going to be a pan-India release in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam & Kannada.

It hits the big screens across India on February 17, 2023.
