A ‘Tabutiful’ World! Witnessing The Magic Of Tabu On Silver Screen And OTT Is A Cinematic Treat
In an industry where new faces come and go almost daily, one actress who has stayed relevant for decades is Tabu. She is a master of excellence when it comes to acting and remains unbeatable to date. Many are accrediting her for becoming the saving grace of Bollywood this year, including Tanu Weds Manu actress Kangana Ranaut. as both of her film releases Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Drishyam 2 have managed to rake in the moolah as opposed to other big banner films that had to bite the dust in 2022. In the horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Tabu played the role of witch Manjulika who wreaks havoc in the Thakur household only to make herself heard. In Drishyam 2, she portrays the role of an inactive Inspector General of Police Meera Deshmukh who is hell-bent on finding the killer of her son.
While the former broke several records, the latter is on the way to making them as it has opened to a raving response. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 saw her in a double role and most fans were left astonished by her screen presence and acting depth. It won’t be wrong to say that no one could have stood a chance to match up to the precedent that Vidya Balan had set with the original film.
As for Drishyam, Meera is a character that is complex to the T. While she has been wronged and kept in the dark, her deceased son was not a saint, to say the least. As far as her character goes, it’s difficult to pin her under the good or evil category. She has shades of gray which will be explored to the maximum in the newly released installment. After becoming the reigning queen of the Box Office this year, Tabu will also conquer the next as she has an impressive line-up ahead of her.
Bhola:-
Adapted from the hit 2019 Tamil thriller Kaithi, Tabu will once again share screen space with Ajay Devgan. Kaithi revolves around Dilli, a criminal serving life imprisonment. He escapes jail in a bid to see his only daughter, whom he has never met.
On the way, he meets an injured cop named Bejoy, and decides to help him. How he finally meets his daughter by fighting all the odds forms the crux of the story. Interestingly, in the remake Devgan recast the cop’s role which was originally played by actor Narain and gave it to Tabu.
Khufiya:-
This web movie boasts of an interesting ensemble cast featuring Tabu, Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Ashish Vidyarthi in pivotal roles. While only the teaser has been released, it is more than enough to get the chatter around it buzzing. As per reports, Khufiya is a story about a RAW operative Krishna Mehra, who is assigned to track down the spy who has been selling India’s defense secrets.
While more details are still awaited, Tabu spoke about her experience at a press event, “As an actor, I have always wanted to be a part of different stories and narratives. With the character that I play in Netflix’s Khufiya, I have been extremely fortunate to explore a very distinct story.”
The Crew:-
Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon will be seen in a film called The Crew soon. As per an official statement, The Crew is touted as a laugh-riot, set against the backdrop of the struggling airline industry. Three women, work and hustle to make it in life. However, their destinies lead to some unwarranted situations and they get caught in a web of lies. This film is produced by the super-hit producer duo of ‘Veere Di Wedding’, Ektaa R Kapoor, and Rhea Kapoor. Rajesh Krishnan has come on board to helm the project.
