Marvel Casts ‘Top Gun 2’ Star As The Main Lead In Upcoming ‘X-Men’ Film & We’re Excited AF

At a time when movie sequels aren’t really working out so well, Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick changed everything. The movie, which was the long-awaited sequel to the 1986 hit Top Gun, broke all box office records and recently even defeated Avengers: Infinity War in terms of record numbers. More than that, the movie had a wonderful plot, and an ensemble cast, with Tom Cruise right at the center of it. Now, when a film does so well, a lot of filmmakers and casting directors keep a close eye as well, and it looks like Marvel’s scouting department wasn’t any different. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is currently gearing up for MCU’s X-Men movie along with many other projects, and the casting for its main characters is surely going to be a big task.

Well, Top Gun: Maverick clearly eased one thing for him, as he’s reported to have nailed down one cast member who may appear as the main lead in the new X-Men movie. Hollywood actor Glen Powell has reportedly been cast in the upcoming MCU film as none other than the X-Men leader Cyclops. If you’ve watched the Marvel shows or read the comics, you’d know that Cyclops AKA Scott Summers is as important a character as Wolverine. He’s actually the main founding member of the X-Men and looks like Powell would really fit the bill for the role.

Now, so far, nothing has been confirmed by Marvel. As expected, Marvel keeps mum about castings as they like to surprise fans in theatres. Even Powell responded to the rumors and unsurprisingly denied them. If you don’t know already, Marvel has strict NDA clauses in contracts and only Tom Holland has been able to get away with blunders in the past. While speaking about the rumors, Glenn said,

“Before Comic-Con, everybody was like, ‘Dude, are you Cyclops?’ No, I’m not. Nobody has called me. I don’t even have one contact info for Marvel, so I have no idea what people are talking about.” Well, it looks likely that we’ve found Glen as Cyclops. Next up, Wolverine!
