It’s time to look back at the last seven days on Netflix. While the headlines might be dominated by the return of some heavy-hitting Emmy winners, it’s actually a massive week for sports fans, documentary junkies, and those looking for some high-octane library additions. In total, Netflix US added 49 new releases this week, split down the middle with 16movies and 23 TV series.
For more on what’s coming up throughout the remainder of April 2026, keep it locked here on What’s on Netflix, and we’re also tracking May 2026 additions here.
Here are the highlights of what’s new and what’s trending for the week ending April 17th, 2026, and while we won’t include them below, Netflix also added two new shark thrillers if you loved Thrash from last week.

Best New Additions to Netflix This Week
BEEF (Season 2)
Genre: Comedy, Drama
Runtime: 8 Episodes
The wait is finally over. After sweeping the awards circuit with its first outing, Lee Sung Jin’s anthology series returns with a brand-new feud. This time, the spark ignites in the high-stakes world of a private country club, involving a young couple and their billionaire boss. Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan lead a stellar cast that proves lightning can indeed strike twice. If you can’t get enough, Netflix also dropped yet another companion podcast on Netflix day-and-date titled BEEF: The Official Podcast to help you dive deeper into the chaos.
The only downside we can see right now is that the series is struggling to stay in the Netflix top 10s for a few days. Season 3 may not be achievable, although Netflix has signed a deal with the creator, so he’ll be sticking around with a new project at the very least.

HISTORY Channel Collection

If you’re looking to brush up on your historical knowledge this weekend, Netflix has just delivered a massive gift with a brand-new collection of History Channel docuseries dropping on the platform. Whether you want to explore the gritty underworld of organized crime in American Godfathers: The Five Families, or revisit the pioneering spirit that shaped a nation in The Men Who Built America: Frontiersmen and America: Our Defining Hours, there is plenty of factual content to binge.
The massive drop also features fascinating deep dives like Sitting Bull (produced by Leonardo DiCaprio) and the tantalizingly titled The Booze, Bets and Sex That Built America, giving documentary fans an absolute treasure trove of gripping, real-life drama to add to their watchlists.

DENIAL (2016)
Director: Mick Jackson
Writer: Deborah Lipstadt, David Hare
Cast: Rachel Weisz, Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Spall
Finally, and in keeping with the theme of riveting historical events, this week’s movie lineup brings us the phenomenal 2016 legal drama Denial. Starring Rachel Weisz, Timothy Spall, and Andrew Scott, the film chronicles the astonishing real-life legal battle of American historian Deborah E. Lipstadt, who is sued for libel by a notorious Holocaust denier and is forced to prove in a British courtroom that the Holocaust actually happened. It’s an incredibly tense, impeccably acted thriller that pairs perfectly with this week’s influx of historical docs, serving as a powerful, must-watch reminder of why defending the truth matters.
