Popular Tabletop Game ‘Codenames Party’ Joins Netflix Cloud Gaming Library

Looking for a new game to play for your next game night? Netflix has just stealth-dropped a brand new party game onto its growing cloud gaming platform today. Codenames Party, based on the smash-hit tabletop board game, is now available to play on your TV and web browser.
If you’re unfamiliar with Codenames, it’s a popular tabletop party game developed by Czech Games Edition. Originally released in 2015, the game revolves around rival spymasters who know the secret identities of 25 agents, and teammates who have to guess the agents based on clever one-word clues.
Now, that game of wits and wordplay has made its way to Netflix.
Here’s the official logline for the new Netflix release:
“Take turns coming up with clever code words and guessing which cards they point to in this party game of wits and wordplay. Try to find all your spies!”
Taking to X today, Czech Games Edition announced the surprise launch, detailing a brand new mode specifically designed for this digital release. “CODENAMES PARTY is on @netflix Games! ” the developers shared. “New one-against-all Party Mode: same 16 words, everyone is Spymaster + guesser at once.”
That mode is in addition to classic team mode and Case Studies mode, which sees players guess for pre-made word and clue sets rather than having their own spymasters.
Because Codenames Party is part of Netflix’s cloud gaming initiative rather than a standard mobile app download, you won’t need a console to play. To get in on the action, launch the game in your Netflix app on a supported Smart TV or in your web browser, then scan a QR code. Your smartphone then acts as your controller, and this game holds the record for having the most players, alongside Pictionary, at 10 players allowed.

The release of Codenames Party is another step forward for Netflix’s cloud gaming beta, which has slowly expanded its library to include more social and party experiences you can play in the living room since the end of 2025.
It’s actually one of two cloud games scheduled for release over the next few weeks. While Codenames offers a more lighthearted puzzle experience, horror fans have something to look forward to at the end of October when an adaptation of The Conjuring makes its cloud launch on Netflix just in time for Halloween.
