Denzel Hayes Washington Jr. was born on December 28, 1954. He is an accomplished and very famous actor, director, and producer in Hollywood. His father was an ordained Pentecostal minister, and his mother owned a beauty parlor. He gets his education from various Schools: Pennington-Grimes elementary school, Oakland Military Academy in New York, and Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida. He has a BA in drama and Journalism from Fordham University. While studying at Fordham University in New York City, he started his career in the theatre. He studied acting at the Lincoln Centre Campus and was cast in the title roles in Eugene O’Neill’s The Emperor Jones and Shakespeare’s Othello. He received several awards, including two Academy Awards, Tony Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Berlin International Film Festival awards, and Screen Actors Guild awards. In 2022, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States. He made his film debut in Carbon Copy (1981).

• Gladiator 2, a sequel to Gladiator 2 (2000), is set to release in November 2024.
• The Piano Lesson is an adaptation of the play of the same name, written by August Wilson.

Denzel Washington married Pauletta Pearson on June 25, 1983, with whom he has four children: John David, Katia, and twins Olivia and Malcolm.
