Ponniyin Selvan 1 review: Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus is no Baahubali, say netizens

Ponniyin Selvan, Mani Ratnam’s much-awaited crowning achievement, debuted in theatres today, September 30, amid great anticipation. Moviegoers who had seen the historical drama’s first-day first show in theatres posted evaluations of Ponniyin Selvan on social media. And, seems like the film has struck a chord with fans. The reviews for the Mani Ratnam directorial, starring Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Trisha among others, have largely been positive. Check out what fans tweeted about the film:

However, some internet users also compared PS 1 to Baahubali and said the expectations fall flat in comparison to SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali.

Knowing that Ponniyin Selvan was in development for over three decades before it was finally released to the public may be fascinating. Before, Mani Ratnam made two attempts to make the movie. His initial attempt was in 1994, and he then resumed talking about the project in 2011. However, the effort was unsuccessful both times.
